Lydia Lunch

Lydia Lunch founded seminal No Wave band, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, in NYC in the mid 1970s. She went on to perform with 8 Eyed Spy, Beirut Slump and currently performs as Lydia Lunch's Retrovirus. She is a a confrontationalist, performance artist and hysterian of our times.

cindy wilson

Cindy Wilson is a founding member/vocalist of the legendary avant-garde, new wave band B-52's. She still performs with the B-52's and released her first solo album, Change, on Don Giovanni Records in 2017. 

Kristin Hersh

Kristin Hersh founded influential indie rock band, Throwing Muses, in 1980.  She has recorded nine solo albums, authored two books and formed hard rock band, 50 Foot Wave in 2003.

Mary Timony

Multi-instrumentalist Mary Timony founded the indie rock bands Autoclave and Helium in the 1990s,  has released three solo albums, co-founded Wild Flag with Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, and currently plays in Ex Hex.

JD Samson

Jd Samson is a gender outlaw, visual artist and activist who joined Le Tigre in 2000 and went on to form band and art performance collective, MEN. 

Nina Gordon & Louise Post

Nina Gordon and Louise Post formed the band Veruca Salt in 1993 and rose to fame with their hit "Seether." The band reunited in 2013, released their fifth, full-length EP, Ghost Notes in 2015, and has been recording and performing with the original lineup. 

Laura Ballance

Laura Ballance was bassist of indie rock band, Superchunk, and co-founded Merge Records with Mac McCaughan.

Julie Cafritz

Julie Cafritz was guitarist/ vocalist in seminal garage noise band, Pussy Galore and went on to form STP and later, Free Kitten, with Kim Gordon in the 1990s.

Donita Sparks

Donita Sparks is guitarist and vocalist of hard rock band L7.

Alice Bag

Singer, musician, author, educator and feminist archivist Alice Bag co-founded  pioneering LA punk band, The Bags, one of the first wave of punk bands to form in the mid-1970s. She has remained active in music, performing in bands Castration Squad, Stay at Home Bomb, Cholita!, and has published two memoirs. Bag recorded her first full length album, Alice Bag, on Don Giovanni records in 2016.

Gail ann dorsey

Gail Ann Dorsey is a top session musician, best known for her year career as bassist for  David Bowie. She has recorded three solo albums and has performed and collaborated with Tears for Fears, Lenny Cravitz, Boy George, Gwen Stefani and Indigo Girls (to name a few). 

Patty Schemel

Patty Schemel was the drummer in Hole, whose album Live Through This remains a milestone in the history of rock/ grunge. Patty continues to play music, currently in the band Upset. She was the subject of the documentary. She recently published a memoir, Hit So Hard, with Da Capo Press.

Allison Wolfe

Allison Wolfe is a progenitor of the riot grrrl movement, having published Girl Germs as a student at the University of Oregon. She went on to form Bratmobile, Party Line and currently sings in the band Ex Stains.

Phranc

Phranc, the All-American Jewish Lesbian Flksinger, was a pivotal figure in the LA punk scene, playing in bands Catholic Discipline and Castration Squad. She started Folk Punk night at The Masque and began performing as Phranc. She has released five solo albums and opened for Morrissey, Husker Du and the Violent Femmes (among others).  She still performs and makes visual art under the moniker, the Cardboard Cobbler.

Alice de Buhr

Alice de Buhr was the drummer of Fanny, the first all-girl band to release an album (and play their own instruments) on a major label in the U.S. She is currently working on a new album and documentary project, Fanny Walks the Earth.

kira roessler

Kira Roessler played bass for Black Flag and later formed Dos with Mike Watt (Minutemen). She still records music and works in the entertainment industry as a dialogue editor. She won an Emmy for her work on mini-series John Adams and received an Oscar for her work as part of the sound engineering team on the film Mad Max: Fury.

kat arthur

Kat Arthur, "The Janice Joplin of Punk," is lead singer of the LA punk band Legal Weapon.

Mish Barber-Way

Mish Barber-Way is lead singer of the band White Lung and a freelance writer whose work can be found in Vice, Broadly, Noisey, Salon and LA Times.

miss guy

Miss Guy is a pioneering DJ, singer/songrwiter and lead singer of glam rock band, Toilet Boys.

Cynthia ross

Cynthia Ross is bassist and founding member of The B Girls. She currently plays in New York Junk.

bibbe hansen

Bibbe Hansen is a performance artist, musician, actress and dancer. She formed The Whippets with Janet Keruac, appeared in Andy Warhol's 'Prison,' danced with the Velvet Underground, and played in Black Fag with Vaginal Davis. She and husband Sean Carrillo owned and operated Troy Cafe in Los Angeles. She is still making art and is working on a memoir.

tracy bonham

Tracy Bonham is a classically trained violinist, pianist, vocalist and rock musician. She is a grammy nominee and has recorded five albums since starting her music career in 1996.  She is currently working on her current album, Modern Burdens, to be released in 2017. She lives in New York with her husband and son.

tanya donelly

Tanya Donelly is a guitarist and musician who rose to prominence as a founding member of Throwing Muses. She went on to form The Breeders with Kim Deal, and then the grammy nominated Belly. Donelly continues to write and perform. She lives in Boston with her husband and children.

amanda palmer

Amanda Palmer is a pianist, musician and author who achieved critical acclaim as one half of the Boston-based Brechtian Punk Cabaret duo, The Dresden Dolls.  She embarked on a solo career after the dissolution of the Dresden Dolls and is a proponent of crowd funding. Palmer has written a book, The Art of Asking, and delivered a successful Ted Talk on the subject. She is married, raising a son, and continues to record and perform.

josephine wiggs

Josephine Wiggs a musician and multi-instrumentalist, most known for her work with The Breeders. Active since the late 1980s, she has played in several bands, collaborated on projects with members of Luscious Jackson, and has recorded soundtracks for a number of films. Wiggs is currently recording a new Breeders album and is working on a memoir. She lives in New York.

azalia snail

Azalia Snail is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, best known for her psychedelic, 'lo-fi' recordings in the 1990s. She currently performs as Lovey Dove with her husband Dan West. She lives in Los Angeles.

Carla Bozulich

Carla Bozulich is a multi-instrumentalist best known for her work in Ethel Meatplow, Geraldine Fibbers and Scarnella. She has performed with Marianne Faithfull, Thurston Moore and Lydia Lunch among others. She continues to record and perform and Lives in Los Angeles.

Brie (Howard) Darling

Brie (Howard) Darling is  a drummer, percussionist and vocalist. She was a member of The Svelts, Jean and June Millington's first band, and later joined their band Fanny. Darling has worked with Carole King, Lynda Carter, The Pointer Sisters, and Ringo Starr, and worked as a songwriter in the 1980s. She lives in Los Angeles.

viola smith

Viola Smith is a drummer, recognized for her work in orchestras and popular music, and one of the first professional female drummers in the U.S. She started out in the Smith Sisters Orchestra, touring the RKO circuit, in the 1920s and 30s, followed by the all-female orchestra The Coquettes. She played in Phil Spitalny's Hour of Charm Orchestra from 1942 until 1954 and then led her own orchestra, Viola and her Seventeen Drums. Viola is 105 and still plays the drums. She lives in California.

Exene Cervenka is an artist, writer and musician, best known for her work with seminal Los Angeles punk band, X. Cervenka has one son, and continues to write and perform. She lives in California. 

eva gardner

Eva Gardner is a bass player, multi instrumentalist and top session musician. She started off as bassist in the Mars Volta and has played and toured with Veruca Salt, Cher, Gwen Stefani, and Tegan and Sara. She currently performs and tours with the pop star Pink. She lives in Loas Angeles, CA.

neon music

Neon Music is a performer, singer, performance artist and multi instrumentalist. She began her career in high school after winning a battle of the bands contest. After high school, she moved to NYC, worked for Patricia Field and created hats for icons like Debbie Harry. She performed experimental music and formed the punk band Youthquake while living in New York. She currently performs as Neon Music. She lives in Los Angeles.

thalia zedek

Thalia Zedek is a musician, singer and guitarist best known for her work in the band Come. Zedek has played in the bands Uzi, NYC No Wave band Live Skull, Dangerous Birds, avante gard trio Neptune, and has released six solo albums. She continues to write music and perform. She lives in Boston, MA.
